I make things that I would like to have in my own home. I am inspired daily by the trees, birds and animals in the woods that surround my home and blacksmithing studio in rural Illinois My latest work with lights came from a personal need for light and open space and the freedom I feel when I'm outdoors. Each piece is done individually allowing me to focus all of my attention from start to finish. With fire, hammer, and anvil I work to transform bars and sheets of unyielding steel into a branch, flower, or a bird’s wing. I don’t strive to make a copy of what I see in nature, but to emulate and exalt the beauty of the world around me.
